With 99 days until the November general election, key dates are approaching for Ohio voters.(*99*)
The November election will determine the next president, the next U.S. senator and three congressional elections that some are calling competitive.(*99*)
Secretary of State Frank LaRose released a list of crucial dates as the countdown to the election is less than 100 days away, including Sept. 20, when absentee voting begins for military members and people voting overseas.(*99*)
“Every Ohioan who is eligible to vote in this election should have a plan for how, when and where to vote,” LaRose said. “That starts with having a trusted source for election information. That could be your county board of elections or VoteOhio.gov website run by our office, but it’s important to make sure you double check key information like where to vote, polling times, and what ID you’ll need to show to vote. It’s also helpful to plan ahead and decide whether you want to vote early by mail, early in person, or at a polling place on Election Day. Now is the time to start preparing.”(*99*)
The voter registration deadline is October 7, with mail-in and in-person early voting beginning the following day.(*99*)
Absentee ballots can be requested from the Secretary of State. website.(*99*)
November 4 is the last day to postmark absentee ballots sent to local election boards, and November 5 is Election Day.(*99*)
Democrats hold all three seats in what are expected to be tight congressional elections.(*99*)
In the Cincinnati area, first-term Rep. Greg Landsman will face Republican Orlando Sonza, a certified public accountant and assistant Hamilton County prosecutor.(*99*)
Near Toledo, Democratic incumbent Rep. Marcy Kaptur continues to be a target for Republicans, facing state Rep. Derek Merrin, who lost last year’s race for speaker of the House.(*99*)
In Akron-Canton, first-term Democratic candidate Emilia Sykes will face former state Sen. Kevin Coughlin.(*99*)
