The United States Army has formally eliminated the diversity requirement from its selection process for top NCO positions.
As reported Everyday wirethe announcement was made by Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Weimer, the Army’s highest-ranking official. The recent guidelines for the command sergeant major selection process remove one sentence from the previous version: a sentence that told candidates to “embrace diversity to ensure leaders represent our forces.”
Additionally, the recent guidelines add provisions such as re-recognizing physical fitness as a top priority for all appointed leaders seeking airborne positions.
The decision comes amid continued opposition from congressional Republicans to the military’s efforts to become more overtly politicized amid the Biden-Harris administration’s guidance to escalate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts, as well as the implementation of critical science theory race (CRT) and transgenderism.
The White House has previously paid outside groups millions of dollars in taxpayer funds to lead the implementation of such far-left initiatives in the military, including race-based career advancement programs.
“The United States and its allies face challenges and threats around the world. Despite increased concerns about military readiness, the Department of Defense continues to prioritize DEI initiatives,” said Peter McGinnis, spokesman for the watchdog group Functional Government Initiative (FGI). “Rather than maximizing readiness training to ensure a capable military, Department of Defense training appears calculated to foster sowing domestic discord through aggressive efforts to promote controversial ideologies.”
“Americans join the military to serve their nation and protect their homeland, not to receive sensitivity training,” McGinnis continued. “The Department of Defense owes them more.”
