New Poll: Trump Leads Harris by Four Points Nationally

by Casey Harper

President Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in a head-to-head race, according to a modern poll.

Harvard/Harris vote released Tuesday was done after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and asked respondents: “If the 2024 presidential election were held today and the race was between Donald Trump, a Republican, and Kamala Harris, a Democrat, who would you vote for?”

The results showed Trump leading Harris by four percentage points, 52 percent to 48 percent.

Other polls conducted shortly after Harris began her presidential campaign showed a tie or a narrow lead for Trump.

The poll also found that a majority of Americans surveyed approve of Trump’s job performance as president.

Notably, 50 percent of independents said they approve of Trump serving as president, while 44 percent disapprove and the rest are unsure.

By comparison, the same poll currently has President Joe Biden at 42 percent approval and 55 percent disapproval.

Inflation and immigration are still by far the most crucial issues for voters, according to the poll. The survey found that 45 percent of voters chose inflation as the most crucial issue, with immigration in second place with 14 percent.
