Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz has filed an ethics complaint against House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff over his handling of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald J. Trump. Specifically, Rep. Gaetz alleges that Schiff “misrepresented @POTUS “phone call with President Zelensky, lying to the public about “collusion with Russia” and preventing members of Congress from attending impeachment hearings.”

“Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment resolution gives unprecedented power to Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff,” Gaetz told reporters before filing the complaint. “It’s deeply troubling to me for several reasons. Number one, Adam Schiff has proven in this trial that he cannot uphold basic principles of integrity. Number two, and I would say most importantly for my job today, Adam Schiff has violated the ethics rules of the House of Representatives.”

Citing a series of rules that Gaetz says Schiff broke, the congressman added that “Schiff lied to the American people and abused his power. We will not allow him to continue to trample the Constitution.”
The complaint comes a day after Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan said Rep. Schiff would not allow House Intelligence Committee Republicans to question Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a key witness in the investigation. “When we asked [Vindman] spoke with after the huge events in July, Adam Schiff said, “No, no, no, we’re not going to let him answer that question,” Jordan said.
