Democratic strategist James Carville told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo on Monday that President Joe Biden will undoubtedly drop out of the presidential race “soon.”
Panic over Biden age AND fitness after his recent appearance in a debate with former President Donald Trump, which generated increasing interest connections for the president drop from the race. Carville, speaking on NewsNation’s “Cuomo” show, said Biden and his family will soon “make the right decision” for the president to step down.

“He’s going to decide that this is just not a good idea. And he’s going to resist it and he’s going to listen to his family,” Carville said. “It’s all the same. ‘We blame the staff, then we blame the media. Then we blame the elites in the Democratic Party.’ Do I look like an elite? What the hell is elitist about growing up in the backwoods of southern Louisiana and going to LSU? And that’s true across the country, and I understand that this is predictable and that he has to get through this. And he’s going to get there soon, not later.”
Cuomo asked Carville why he was “confident” that Biden would resign relatively quickly.
“You know, Chris… I don’t predict things. I’m just telling you it’s inevitable,” Carville replied. “He’ll come to his senses. People will get the message. He’ll understand. His family will understand. They’ll pray about it and make the right decision. I have no doubt about that, but while we’re dragging our feet, someone has to think about what’s next.”
CNN Senior Data Reporter Harry Enten he said On Monday, he would “take a chance” on selecting Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed Biden if he were a Democratic donor because she is polling better among independents.
“If you look at the polling average, she’s actually doing slightly better than Joe Biden against Donald Trump,” Enten said. “While Joe Biden is three percentage points behind Donald Trump nationally in the polling average, Kamala Harris is only one percentage point behind Donald Trump. And the reason for that is, remember, we have the left of this country, the Democrats, we have the right of this country, the Republicans, but elections are usually won in the middle, among independents.”
Carville before Described Harris has been called “the most predictable politician I’ve ever seen,” and Cuomo has called her “Biden’s Achilles heel.”
