The Cook Political Report on Tuesday updated its projections for key swing states in the 2024 presidential race following the June debate, and the changes suggest President Joe Biden could be in trouble.
Cook Political Report, one of America’s leading independent election and campaign monitors, Updates show that key jurisdictions — including key swing states like Georgia, Arizona and Nevada — are now breaking for former President Donald Trump with about four months left until Election Day. Cook’s updates reflect that some voters are leaving Biden behind amid the president’s lackluster and distracted approach efficiency during a June 27 debate with Trump that raised earnest questions about Biden’s mental acuity and fitness to serve as president.
Tuesday’s updates included Arizona, Georgia and Nevada moving from “uncertain” to “Republican-leaning.” Elsewhere in the country, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Nebraska’s 2nd District moved from “likely Democratic” to “Democratic-leaning.”
Today we’re making six changes to our Electoral College ratings.

Trump has generally had better numbers in polls after the debate, and his campaign reportedly believes that states previously considered unattainable may now be in play as Biden’s vote count weakens. Biden, meanwhile, has faced calls or suggestions from chosen officials AND liberal media experts withdraw from the race so as not to be disappointed in November and not to lose the presidential election to Trump.
But Biden has so far shown no intention of dropping out of the race. His campaign has aggressively rejected calls to do so, and he called on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Monday to make clear that he intends to stay in the race and challenge his opponents to face him at the convention if they don’t want him to be the Democratic nominee.
Trump’s lead among registered voters has widened to eight percentage points, with 49% favoring Trump and 41% favoring Biden, according to a New York Times/Siena poll released on Wednesday. The same poll showed Trump leading among likely voters by six points, with 49 percent support for Trump and 43 percent support for Biden.
Another poll shows Trump with a six-point lead over Biden nationally, with 48% support compared with 42% for Biden, according to Wednesday’s Wall Street Journal. vote.
Biden’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
