Columbus County attorney John J. Kulewicz will compete as the Democratic candidate against Ohio Republican Auditor Keith Faber in an open race for Ohio attorney general in November, according to unofficial results Tuesday from The Associated Press.
The results will remain unofficial until confirmed by election officials later this month.
In the Democratic primary, Kulewicz defeated former state representative Elliot Forhan.
“You have elected a lawyer who is ready to restore the office of attorney general to the people of Ohio,” Kulewicz said at an Ohio Democratic Party event after the race was announced.
The Upper Arlington attorney has campaigned on Ohio’s need for a lawyer in the Attorney General’s Office instead of a politician and plans to fight “pricing monopolies that drive up the prices we pay for necessities,” Kulewicz told the Capital Journal in April.
Kulewicz will now hire current Ohio Auditor Keith Faber to fill the position in the Nov. 3 general election.
