Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy said Friday he plans to introduce a resolution aimed at removing President Joe Biden from office after Thursday night’s presidential debate.
Roy announced his intentions in a post to Biden’s performance during Thursday night’s debate with former President Donald Trump was widely characterized as a complete disaster, even by Democratic insiders AND media Sockets which largely described Biden’s presidency and campaign positively.
Section four of the 25th Amendment, which Roy intends to invoke, authorizes the vice president and a majority of Cabinet officials to effectively declare the president incapacitated and replace Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris, According to to the National Constitution Center.
I intend to introduce a calling resolution @vice president to immediately exercise his powers under section 4 25. Amendment to convene and mobilize the principal Cabinet officers to announce @POTUS is unable to effectively discharge the duties and powers of his office.

“I intend to introduce a resolution calling for [vice president] to immediately exercise his powers under section 4 25. Amendment to convene and mobilize the principal Cabinet officers to announce [president] is unable to effectively discharge the duties and powers of his office,” Roy wrote in his post.
The president was hoarse, coughing from time to time and He was struggling sometimes to coherently finish sentences during a debate speech. Overall, Biden’s performance reignited questions and concerns about his mental acuity and fitness for office that have persisted, especially since special counsel Robert Hur specified that the president is a “well-meaning old man with a poor memory” in February.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
