I consider former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore not only a conservative, but an iconoclast of the first order. Twice elected to the Alabama Supreme Court, he refused to bow to political correctness or judicial tyranny. He was first removed from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from the Alabama Supreme Court building. I am a New Covenant man, but I believe the Ten Commandments still belong in our courthouses. The people of Alabama didn’t care and re-elected Moore to the Supreme Court. When the staunch natural rights conservative refused to honor the corrupt, anti-judicial decision on gay marriage in 2015, Moore was removed a second time.
So what?
Moore has the audacity to tell a cranky Chris Cuomo on national television that our rights come from God, not government. The fact that a New York son of a… Evil Governor doesn’t know the basic values of our country is proof of how uneducated, arrogant and out of touch our media has become. Armed and ready at a moment’s notice (ask his wife!), Moore is a great man and would make a great U.S. Senator for Alabama.
But he is not my first choice to succeed the admirable, venerable Jeff Sessions, who currently serves as our seasoned Attorney General. We need someone who is not Mitch McConnell’s choice to succeed Sessions in the U.S. Senate. We need someone who is an outsider from day one — who will win.
I want to see more conservatives in the U.S. Senate, which is why I want Congressman Mo Brooks.
Why?
He’s a staunch Trump supporter. Yes, that’s good. But there’s more to it. He wants to repeal Obamacare. So much so that he introduced a one-sentence bill in the House of Representatives that simply stated, “The Affordable Care Act is repealed.” Pretty straightforward, don’t you think? A bill that can be read in one sitting, unlike legislation the size of a phone book.
He supports the Second Amendment without reservation. He opposes the crony Export-Import Bank, a corruption fund that benefits huge businesses with our taxpayer dollars while miniature businesses are forced to finance their own loans. He and his colleague U.S. Senator Richard Shelby would be a championship team fighting corruption in DC. But why am I supporting Brooks and not Moore? He is vocally opposed to McConnell, demanding that he resign as Majority Leader. Senator Brooks will be the one confirmed vote against a craven, pro-crony, liberal Majority Leader who refuses to lead, who refuses to deliver on Trump’s agenda — our agenda —
Now, who did McConnell pick? Former Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, who has been tight-lipped about President Trump. Strange investigated former Alabama Gov. Richard Bentley, who resigned in disgrace, but not before naming Strange as Sessions’ successor. What a strange idea — and it stinks of corruption. Strange has to go for that reason alone!
If Brooks wins the special election, McConnell will face a huge blow to his dominance in D.C., prompting sudden resignations and up-to-date elections. We all want to “get rid of Mitch,” right? Then we need to shake up who gets elected to the upper chamber. The majority leader is also an elected office, but we don’t elect him (or her). Whether I like it or not, the majority leader or speaker has a separate set of voters: his fellow U.S. senators.
You want to change the Majority Leader? We need to change the people he represents. We need the most anti-establishment Republicans winning seats in the United States Senate. Sorry to break your hearts, but draining the swamp means more than one election. It means changing our attitudes and more conservative victories across the country. That’s why I support Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel’s effort to oust the inappropriate, regressive leftist Sherrod Brown. That’s why I want Ted Cruz to not only win reelection, but also take on a much-needed leadership role in the United States Senate, whether his colleagues like him or not. And that’s why I want Mo Brooks (and Judge Roy Moore) to run in the Alabama special runoff election.
McConnell knows that powerful Washington ties hurt his chosen candidates like a belt hitting a naughty child. That’s why he has resorted to smearing outside Republicans as corrupt insiders who misuse public funds and enrich family members with government largesse. In the 2016 U.S. Senate race in Indiana, McConnell chose Todd Young to succeed him, even though the conservative outsider was Marlin Stutzman. McConnell and company have issued misleading and well-placed campaign smears against Stutzman, and Todd Young now agrees with Mitch McConnell.
Now some conservatives are worried about direct challenges in the primaries. Will attacking Republicans in protected seats give Democrats more opportunities, as they did in 2012 with Todd Akin or Richard Mourdock? I think they should put those concerns aside. Four years later, one of the most unlikely, most politically incorrect, most media-demonized candidates has won the highest office in the land. Since then, the corrupt liberal media has been so expertly marginalized by the Trump administration that no one cares what they or their corporate media sponsors have to say. All that anti-conservative smears will fall on deaf ears.
If we want to make America great again, we have to make Washington miniature again, and that means getting rid of the Wall Street-Big Business-Big Amnesty crony phalanx that has taken over Washington by pulling the strings of legislative leaders like Mitch McConnell. Fundamental challenges that must be addressed on conservative activists’ terms are the way to go. President Trump has the grassroots, conservative, countercultural pulse that We the People have long yearned for. Now let’s get to work.
Let’s elect “Mo” conservatives to the U.S. Senate. I support Mo Brooks for the U.S. Senate and urge everyone who can donate to his campaign (full disclosure – I donated to the Senate Conservative Fund precisely because I want to put an end to unconservative Republican leadership hindering Trump’s agenda and ours in Washington.)
