I had to watch this video twice to make sure I understood the implications. Of course, here’s everyone’s favorite IRS commissioner testifying on Capitol Hill (discussing topics other than this scandal or this one) that under President Obama’s illegal executive amnesty, millions of illegal immigrants will be eligible for the generous Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). It won’t just be in the future; newly quasi-legalized-by-decree immigrants will also be eligible for the back phrases up to three years – even if He did not file or pay taxes at that time. Amazing:
This “Washington Times” summarizes the exchange:
IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told Congress on Wednesday that Even illegal immigrants who have not paid their taxes will be eligible to apply for a refund once they receive Social Security numbers under President Obama’s fleeting deportation amnestyy…Mr. Koskinen, testifying before the House Oversight Committee, said the White House never asked him or anyone else at the IRS about the potential tax implications of its amnesty policy.AND “I haven’t talked to the White House about it at all,” he said.…He also clarified his Senate testimony last week, where he acknowledged that illegal immigrants who paid taxes using proxy Social Security numbers but got real Social Security numbers after the amnesty was approved could apply for refunds on back earned income tax credits. On Wednesday, he said that even illegal immigrants who didn’t pay taxes would be able to apply for refunds on back earned income tax credits after getting Social Security numbers. The EITC is a refundable tax credit, meaning people who have no tax liability can still get a refund from the government.
First step:Violation of the rights and sovereignty of the United States of America through illegal entry into the country. Step two:Find a job and earn money (often illegally). Step three:Receive “deportation relief,” work permit, and social security number by unilateral presidential political decree. Step Four: Instantly qualify for huge future and back tax credits — i.e., checks issued directly to individuals with no tax liability, in many cases — all thanks to American taxpayers. Even to DREAM Act reform advocates like me, this is completely indefensible. Our own Conn Carroll, it must be said, predicted this a few months ago. He noted at the time that while illegal immigrants already receive smaller tax credits ($4 billion in the Additional Child Tax Credit in 2011 alone), the EITC is a much larger program with a much deeper budget. Some Republican senators criticize the program as tantamount to “amnesty bonusand if Koskinen is to be believed, the White House apparently didn’t bother to ask how the president’s takeover could open up a firehose of new benefits for illegal immigrants through the tax code. Think about it. Then again, they probably don’t see a problem with it at all. Remember, Obama’s attorney general nominee he recently stated that noncitizens have a “right” to work in the U.S. The IRS can’t say how much this little wrinkle will cost taxpayers, but Conn’s estimates suggest we could be looking at tens of billions of dollars in back payments over the past three years. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats continue to block any vote on legislation passed by the House of Representatives to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security, minus a small subset of funds to implement and carry out the president’s unpopular, illegal (and apparently quite expensive) executive amnesty. As a Twitter buddy put it downprotesting the “shutdown” of DHS while also… opposing funding for DHS. And they hope the media will help them promote this absurd narrative, which is entirely in the service of the White House’s politically motivated power grab via executive order. Incidentally, here’s another concern about amnesty raised in “Washington Times” plot:
Legislators too expressed concerns that Mr Obama’s amnesty could allow illegal immigrants to vote even though it is illegal. “While we may disagree on whether deferred action programs were created and implemented lawfully, we believe we can all agree that these programs cannot be allowed to undermine the integrity of our elections,” Ohio Republicans wrote in a letter to Mr. Obama on Wednesday, ahead of a House hearing on the issue on Thursday.
I would like to see more details on the basis of this particular concern, but before Democrats laugh off the questions about illegal voting by non-citizens as a paranoid Republican fable, they should read this. I will leave you with a few questions: Since the media and Democrats seem so interested this week in bypassing Scott Walker
silly question about his personal beliefs on evolution and faith, I’m sure they’d be joyful to ask prominent Democrats about this current political controversy, right? They’d be banging on doors wherever Hillary is hiding these days to ask her about the billions of dollars in tax breaks paid to illegal immigrants, Normal? And while we’re at it, maybe they’ll challenge her thorn “traps” about religion and sciencebecause they apparently love them (although Democrats strangely tend to get special exceptions from the sneering “anti-science” finger-pointing). For starters, does Hillary think that all these people are unsophisticated?
