More fallout from Colorado’s “unfair” convention

The candidates arrived in New York a week before the April 19 primary, knowing how essential it is to win the Empire State in the 2016 race. Still, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are still at odds over what happened last weekend at the Republican Party convention in Colorado, where party officials excluded voters from the process. Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders is making waves in Buffalo, while John Kasich is plotting his path to the presidency in Midtown Manhattan. Hillary Clinton is traveling around New York, responding to direct attacks from Sanders, while her husband seems to be hurting her campaign more than helping it.

Republican primaries

Donald Trump: Trump has officially won the Missouri primary, a month after the state voted, adding 12 more delegates. Better behind schedule than never. But the businessman has been very vocal about what he sees as a “completely unfair” primary process in Colorado, where people were not given the opportunity to vote. Seemingly undemocratic rules stripped Trump of delegates at the Colorado GOP convention, and his campaign argues that millions of voters are threatening to defect from the GOP. He shared a video of one particularly livid Trump supporter in Colorado smoking his voter registration. There is nothing bad to say about the process in New York, where polls show him far ahead 54 percent votes.

Ted Cruz: Cruz is considered an unlikely candidate in California, but his campaign on Tuesday sent out a list of 50 GOP officials in the Golden State who have announced they are endorsing him in the primary. During a campaign visit to San Diego on Monday, the Texas senator insulted Trump for “whining” on the results in Colorado. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) he defended results on Monday, tweeting a plain message: “I’ve been attending CO GOP conventions for years. It takes organization and grassroots attention to win. Cruz had it. Trump didn’t. End of story.”

Cruz is expected to hit the road in Buffalo on Thursday.

Jan Kasich: Kasich gave a speech Tuesday at the Women’s National Republican Club in Manhattan, where he proposed “two paths” to the presidency. He boasted about his record in Ohio while suggesting that his rivals are “unworthy” of the presidency because of their controversial rhetoric and behavior. Kasich’s team suggested that former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has endorsed him, will soon join him on the campaign trail.

Democratic primaries

Hillary Clinton attended Glassdoor’s 11th annual Equal Pay Day conference on Tuesday, where praised U.S. women’s soccer team for suing the United States Soccer Federation over equal pay. Her connection with the African-American community may be strained after her husband clashed with Black Lives Matter protesters in Philadelphia. She still leads in black and demographic voting he is expecting her keep promises in his community. Clinton slammed Sanders for his gun voting historywhich he says proves he is not committed to gun control. On Tuesday, CNN spokesperson Brian Fallon accused Sanders of manipulating the superdelegate system by trying to steal Clinton’s supporters. So far, she has kept double digit advantage in New York.

Bernie Sanders He spoke to thousands of supporters at the University at Buffalo on Monday. The electrifying event was so crowded that about 3,000 people didn’t even make it inside. During the speech, Sanders criticized Clinton several times for her enormous donations and seemed certain to win next Tuesday’s New York primary if turnout was powerful. In Albany, Sanders challenged Clinton to release her tax returns and Wall Street speeches. He said he would do the same, but his testimony would not make headlines, and his transcripts don’t exist.
