A new poll shows who Battleground State voters would support in a Trump vs. Biden rematch in 2024.

This month, recent polls showed former President Donald Trump gaining more support than current President Joe Biden in the 2024 race for the White House. According to New York TimesBiden is catching up with Trump in five of the six battleground states.

Battleground state Ohio recently came to the forefront after the state’s shocking passage of an amendment to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution.

A new survey of Ohio voters conducted by Emerson College Polling and WJW-TV Fox 8 Cleveland shows Trump leading Biden in the 2024 matchup among Ohio voters.

Trump leads among all Republican Party candidates with 62 percent support. Trump is followed by former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley with 10%, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis with 8%, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy with 6% and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie with percentages. Ten percent indicated they were undecided.

According to the poll, support for Biden is weaker among voters in this state (via Emerson College Poll):

President Joe Biden has a 32% job approval rating and 58% disapprove of the job he is doing in his position. Gov. Mike DeWine’s approval rating is 41%, while 37% disapprove of the job the governor is doing.

Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said: “The president also enjoys 20% support among independent voters in Ohio compared with 70% among Democrats and 11% among Republicans.”

In a potential 2024 matchup, Trump leads Biden, 58% to 38%, with 12% undecided.

Eighty-one percent of Trump voters say they will still vote for Trump if he is convicted in a criminal trial. Seven percent said no.

“After presenting additional independent and third-party candidates on the ballot, Biden voters are more likely than Trump voters to move into the undecided category (11% vs. 4% of Trump voters,” Kimball said. “A majority of Kennedy supporters, West and Stein also say there is a chance they will change their mind and vote for someone else, while most Biden and Trump voters say they will definitely vote for their candidate.”

When it comes to the most important issues for Ohio voters, the economy leads with 41%, followed by “threats to democracy” with 9%, abortion access (8%), crime (8%), housing (8%), health care (8%). , education (7%) and immigration (7%).
