Mitt Romney announces who he would vote for instead of Trump. This isn’t shocking.

In 2012, Mitt Romney won the Republican nomination, but not everyone was cheerful with it, especially the Tea Party movement at the height of its power. Romney was stiff, robotic and almost as inauthentic when it came to connecting with voters, many of whom had been through the economic crisis triggered by the 2008 financial crash.

Most voters couldn’t walk past Romney’s drive-thru and trust him to improve their lives. Joe Soptic adin which he basically accused Romney of killing his wife, was full of mistakes, but it didn’t matter – it resonated in parts of Ohio that cost Mitt the state. In other words, most voters saw Mitt as a man who would fire them, not hire them. He lost to Barack Obama and this put an end to his presidential ambitions.

During the 2018 election, he ran for and won a U.S. Senate seat in Utah, replacing the overdue Orrin Hatch. Since then, he has sided with the Democrats in significant socio-political moments. He joined the Black Lives Matter protest. He was not a credible voice in the Democrats’ two mock impeachment trials against Donald Trump, voting with them to convict the former president twice. He also expressed opposition to Trump’s commutation of Roger Stone’s sentence. So are we shocked that, when asked, Romney said he would vote with Democrats over Trump in 2024 (via NY Post Office):

Sen. Mitt Romney said he would vote for a Democrat over former President Trump or businessman Vivek Ramaswamy in a potential 2024 general election matchup.

“I would be happy to support virtually any Republican, maybe not Vivek, but the other candidates would be acceptable to me and I would happily vote for them,” Romney told CBS news host Norah O’Donnell in a recording that resurfaced online on Saturday.

“I would also like to vote for some Democrats. “I mean, I think it would be an upgrade over Donald Trump and maybe Joe Biden as well,” Romney added, without specifying which Democrats he was referring to.

The remarks originally aired a month ago as part of a lengthy discussion between Romney and O’Donnell about a up-to-date book about the senator.

“Listen, I like President Biden. You know, I find him a very charming and engaging person. There are places where I agree with him, but mostly I disagree with him. “I think he made a lot of terrible mistakes, but I wish someone else would have run,” Romney said.

Biden has an ‘engaging’ personality; Mitt – have you started drinking? Plus, you committed the same antics that got you in trouble with Obamacare. You didn’t specify anything about this in 2012, which made you look like an idiot. And you never specified which Democrat you preferred over Biden today. In other words, all the people you want to vote for have no chance of winning either party’s nomination, and that’s a stupid thing to say. Donald Trump is a prohibitive candidate and no one can defeat him. And it wouldn’t surprise me if the entire industry suspended their campaigns if Trump dominates Iowa. Democrats are committed to Biden. Any internal coup to remove him was wasted months ago.

Just change the party, Mitt. Or leave the party. Looks like you’re already halfway there.
