A new poll shows where Florida voters stand on abortion

Earlier this month, Ohio passed a radical amendment aimed at enshrining abortion access in the state constitution and undermining parental rights. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, urged voters to vote against the extreme measure Townhall mentioned.

Shortly after the amendment passed in Ohio, word spread that pro-abortion activists in other states would be working on similar measures.

A new poll from the University of North Florida finds that a majority of Florida voters would support a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would protect access to abortion.

According to WFLA, 716 registered voters participated in the survey. The “Amendment to Limit Government Interference in Abortion” initiative currently has 492,295 signatures (via WFLA):

According to the UNF poll, 62% of voters indicated they would vote “yes” on a ballot measure regarding abortion rights. More than half of Republican Party respondents (53%) said they would vote affirmatively.

Earlier this month, a new Wall Street Journal-NORC poll conducted at the University of Chicago found that 55 percent of Americans “believe a pregnant woman should be able to obtain a legal abortion if she wants it for any reason.” According to the survey, this is one of the highest levels on record since the nonpartisan researcher began monitoring it in the 1970s.

By political party, 77 percent of Democrats said they would support access to abortion for any reason. That’s a jump from 52 percent in 2016. As for Republicans, one-third said they would support access to abortion for any reason.

After Ohio passed a radical pro-abortion amendment, activists focused on Nebraska, which Townhall mentioned.

The Protect Our Rights Coalition submitted the proposed petition to the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office last month Related press reported. To get on the 2024 ballot, 125,000 valid signatures will be needed by next summer.

“We are confident and energized by this effort,” Ashlei Spivey, founder of I Be Black Girl, one of the pro-abortion organizations in the coalition, told the newspaper. The coalition includes groups such as Planned Parenthood Advocates of Nebraska and the ACLU of Nebraska.

Adam Schwend, western regional director of SBA Pro-Life America, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the amendment would eliminate parents’ rights.
