Former US Senator Sherrod Brown raised millions within 24 hours after he announced his campaign to recover the place, showing strategists from each party that the 2026 race will probably have record expenses.
“Most of this money comes from everyday ohioans who simply support him,” said David Pepper, Ohio democratic strategist.
Pepper indicates what brown night raised It is similar to what Senator Jon Husted raised within eight months. The HUSTED campaign reports that it has collected about $ 4 million since January.
“When we look at margins that are as narrow as in the Chamber and Senate in DC, the parties will be focused on races in which they have the most likely to win,” said the leader of the Ohio Republican party, Tony Schroeder.
And this is just the beginning, he said.
“We understand what this race will take,” said Schroeder. “Just like Senator Husted.”
Every candidate needs cash and advertising.
The political company of Adimpact advertising gave us data showing that the Senate race in Ohio in 2024 is the most high-priced race without the presidential they have ever analyzed.
About $ 550 million on advertising was spent in the whole form.
The greatest donor of Moreno was the Republican leadership fund of the Senate of the Political Commission (PAC), which spent about $ 90 million on advertising. This money was spent within two months preceding the election day.
The next best expenses were conservative groups one nation and weapons of American jobs, each of which spent about $ 40 million.
For Brown Democratic Pac Winsenate spent $ 100 million, which also saved money for the remaining several months before the universal elections. Brown for the Ohio Senate spent $ 66 million, and the Democratic Senators Campaign Commission spent almost $ 50 million.
In total, Republicans are ahead of Democrats by about $ 20 million.
But while President Donald Trump won Ohio last year by 11%, Brown did better than Democrats in the country, still defeated by Berni Moreno by only four points.
Republicans say they will make sure that this race is not so close.
“It will cover radio waves, and I think you will see very intense campaigns,” said Schroeder.
Already the National Republican Senators Committee issued an advertisement Naming Brown “Sale”.
Asked if it would be the best -changing race of the US Senate in the country, Pepper said he thought so.
“Of course absolutely,” said Pepper. “This could be the turning point of the US Senate.”
So if you have enough advertising – get ready. We still have the basis for passing, and 14 months to the election 2026.
