President-elect Donald Trump announced his selection of Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence on Wednesday.
The former Democratic congresswoman ran for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination but lost to President Joe Biden. She joined the Republicans during the 2024 presidential campaign and is a staunch Trump supporter.
“I am pleased to announce that former congresswoman, Lt. Col. Tulsi Gabbard, will serve as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). For over two decades, Tulsi fought for our country and the freedoms of all Americans.” Trump said. “As a former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, she enjoys broad bipartisan support – now she is a proud Republican!”
“I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her distinguished career to our Intelligence Community, defending our constitutional rights and ensuring peace through strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!” he declared.
