Trump hits out at cattle farmers over harsh reactions to purchases of Argentine beef

by Ben Whedon

President Donald Trump has targeted cattle farmers amid a backlash from the industry to his plan to buy beef from Argentina to stabilize the industry and lower costs for Americans.

“The Cattle Ranchers I love don’t understand that the only reason they are doing so well for the first time in decades is because I imposed tariffs on cattle coming into the United States, including a 50% tariff on Brazil.” published on the Social Truth website.

“If it weren’t for me, they would be doing exactly what they have been doing for the last 20 years – terrible! It would be nice if they understood this, but they also need to lower prices because the consumer is also a very important factor in my thinking! ” he added.

Trump has sought to deliver an economic rescue to Argentina amid major turmoil over President Xavier Milea’s restructuring, which includes a $40 billion bailout and a promise of beef purchases. The proposal has sparked intense scrutiny from America First Republicans and the nation’s cattle ranchers.

One domestic cattle producer, Meriwether Farmswrote a public letter to Trump stating that “your suggestion of purchasing beef from Argentina to stabilize beef prices would be an absolute betrayal of the American cattle rancher.”

“We understand that beef prices are high and we admire your concern for all Americans, but this is not the fault of the American producer,” the letter continued. “It is the fault of politicians who have allowed BRICS entities to dominate the meat industry, who are involved in setting prices, and who constantly lie to their consumers.”

Meriwether particularly harshly criticized the Department of Agriculture, saying, “[t]“There is no one there who can be trusted, who truly understands the issues, and who is not bought by or allied with Big Industries.”

Libertine. Marjorie Taylor GreeneR-Ga., shared Meriwether Farms’ statement, saying: “I hear the same sentiments in my district.

We love President Trump. Tell him to stop helping foreign countries and put Americans first.”

At this point, only lend a hand Americans!”

Trump doubled however, he made his position clear in a follow-up post, saying, “[i]on top of everything else, tariffs on other countries SAVED our cattle farmers!”
