There are just four days left until the Ohio primary, and a new candidate is in the lead Fox News poll released on Tuesday. While Undecided still enjoys robust support from Ohio’s GOP core voters (25%), that support is neck and neck with J.D. Vance’s 23%, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump earlier this month.

The fact that Vance is currently the top candidate in the polls isn’t the only noteworthy part of the poll. Not only is he outperforming everyone else, but he has more than doubled his approval rating of 11 percent in March. Rand Paul-endorsed candidate Mike Gibbons, who was the leading candidate in March with 22 percent after 24 percent “undecided,” is now down to 13 percent.
On the candidate side, Vance and Matt Dolan are the only two candidates whose poll numbers have improved. Josh Mandel increased from 20 to 18 percent. Jane Timken rose from 9 to 6 percent and Neil Patel from 2 to 1 percent.
Vance also has the best approval ratings, with 52 percent of primary voters viewing him favorably and 23 percent viewing him unfavorably.
The poll not only highlights the support Ohio voters have for Vance, but also for Trump.
The enormous majority of voters say Trump’s support increased their support for Vance (by 42 percent). In fact, more people said it had no effect (27 percent) than said it resulted in less support (23 percent of voters).
Trump has been announcing for some time that he might run for president again. Ohio Republicans appear to support this, as 60 percent said they wanted him to run again and 32 percent did not.
The former president easily won Ohio in 2016 with 51.7% of the votes i in 2020 with 53.3% of the votes.
Various polls show Trump with an advantage over President Joe Biden, who has repeatedly said he plans to seek re-election.
The a survey was conducted April 20–24, survey of 906 Republican Party voters in Ohio. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points. Trump endorsed Vance on April 15.
Trump showed up at the rally last Saturday in Delaware County, Ohio, where he continued to praise Vance, who he said earlier former president.

As for Democrats, Republican Tim Ryan is largely expected to be the nominee. IN his statement in support of VanceTrump offered that “I think JD would most likely eliminate a weak but dangerous Democratic opponent – dangerous because he will have so much money to spend. However, JD will destroy him in the debates and fight on behalf of the MAGA Movement in the Senate.”
Report from The New York Times. published shortly after it was revealed that Trump had endorsed Vance, noted that “Mr. Trump also told allies that he thought the Democratic frontrunner, Representative Tim Ryan, would be difficult to defeat in the general election and that he believed Vance could beat him.”
The position is currently held by Senator Rob Portman, a retiring Republican.
Predictions because this particular seat looks good for Republicans, too. According to the Cook Political Report, it is “Lean Republican”, while Sabato’s Crystal Ball is “Likely Republican” and Inside Elections is “Solid Republican”.
