House Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday announced that Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, who will head President-elect Donald Trump’s novel Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), will meet with Congress on Capitol Hill next week.
Trump daft the pair were cast earlier this month after he promised during the campaign to create a task force to crack down on government spending and corruption. The department is expected to “cut through government bureaucracy, reduce excess regulation, cut wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies.”
Johnson said the Capitol Hill meeting, scheduled for Dec. 5, will focus on “top reform ideas to achieve regulatory repeals, administrative reductions and cost savings — as well as revitalizing the principle of limited government.”
Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst and Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene will lead the official DOGE caucus and subcommitteeappropriately. Next year, Republicans will control both houses of Congress and the White House.
More details about the meeting, such as the specific time and location, have not been revealed yet.
