Senate on Tuesday evening lost made earnest progress for the eighth time in adopting a resolution passed by the House that will keep the government in business until November 21.
The government suspended operations earlier this month after the Senate failed to adopt the House’s eternal resolution or a competing Senate Democratic resolution. The Senate needs 60 votes to close resolutions.
The final vote was split 49-45, with Nevada Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto and Maine Independent Sen. Angus King voting with Republicans.
Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul voted against the resolution.
Sense. Bill Cassidy, Tammy Duckworth, Bill Hagerty, Mitch McConnell, John Fetterman and Thom Tillis he didn’t vote. Senate Majority Leader John Thune voted against the bill to request future reconsideration of the legislation.
It is not known when the next vote will take place.
