The democratic representative of Virginia Gerry Connolly announced on Monday that he would not look for re -election and give up the function of the highest democrat in the powerful House supervisory committee.
74 -year -old Connolly explained his decision to retire in the lightweight of the diagnosis of esophageal cancer, which he said, returned. It is not immediately clear who will replace Connolly to serve as a main democrat in the supervisory panel. Ocasio-Cortez is not anymore serves in the committee after its unsuccessful offer against Connolly as a member of the ranking.
