Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s family condemned his support for former President Donald Trump in a joint statement released Friday.
Kennedy announced that he was suspending his campaign and endorsing the Republican frontrunner during a speech in Phoenix, Arizona, after his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, earlier he hinted to candidates joining forces. In response, his family released a joint statement calling the decision “a sad ending to a sad story.”
“We want an America filled with hope and united by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise and national pride,” he said. statement we read. “We believe in Harris and Walz. Our brother Bobby’s decision to support Trump today is a betrayal of the values our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story.”

Kennedy said it was a complex decision to end the campaign but he saw no “realistic path to election victory.” quoted censorship, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and the “war on our children” are the three main issues that led to his decision.
“There were three main reasons that convinced me to enter this race, and those are the main reasons that convinced me to leave the Democratic Party and run as an independent and now to endorse President Trump,” Kennedy said Friday.
“I no longer believe in my heart that I have a realistic path to victory in the election,” Kennedy said. “I am not ending my campaign. I am simply suspending it.”

Kennedy was also criticized online by his cousin, Jack Schlossberg, who said Kennedy was “for sale” and urged his listeners to vote for Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris instead.
“I have never been less surprised in my life,” Schlossberg said in fasting on X shortly after the announcement. “I’ve been saying this for over a year — [RFK Jr] is for sale, works for Trump. Comrades and loving this. Kamala Harris is for the people — the easiest decision of all time just got easier.”
Asset you are welcome support given shortly after Kennedy’s speech and previously said he would be “honored” to receive his support.
“He’s a little bit of a different kind of guy, a very intelligent guy, a very good person. If he would endorse me, I would be honored, I would be very honored,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” co-hosts Ainsley Earhardt, Lawrence Jones, Brian Kilmeade and guest host Will Cain on Thursday. “He really has his heart in the right place, he’s a respected person.”
The letter was sent by Kennedy’s sister, Kerry Kennedy, and signed by his brothers and sisters, Kathleen, Courtney, Chris and Rory Kennedy.
