House Republicans voted Wednesday to nominate House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., to lead the lower chamber again.
So does the House GOP conference re-elected Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La. and Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn. According to Politico, both ran unopposed.
Trump said he plans to nominate Republican Elise Stefanik of New York state, the outgoing chairwoman of the Republican Party conference, as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Rep. Lisa McClain of Michigan, who served as GOP conference secretary, ran against Rep. Kat Cammack of Florida to replace Stefanik.
On Wednesday morning ahead of the leadership election, President-elect Donald Trump met with House Republicans and made remarks. In his speech, he reaffirmed his support for Johnson.
House Republicans are expected to retain control of the chamber, according to Decision Desk headquarters.
