Outnumbered by gun grabbers at their own rally

At a gun control rally in Ohio, organizers quickly discovered they were outnumbered by gun rights activists – so much so that if a passerby didn’t know what they were looking at, they could swear it was a pro-gun rally.

WBNS reports from central Ohio: :

It was a rally organized by gun control advocates, but ended up looking more like an NRA rally.

“As a gun owner, I am a responsible person and I believe it is my responsibility to ask all gun owners to undergo a background check,” said Blanche Luczyk. “It’s just common sense. “Any responsible person who wants to take ownership of a gun should agree to a background check.”

Łuczyk was one of a half-dozen members of the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns that hosted a rally in the Arena District on Friday… Luczyk says she is particularly disappointed with Republican Sen. Rob Portman for voting against background checks earlier this year.

However, most of the rally participants chanted “We love Portman.”

The controversy was another demonstration of the organizational strength of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation and the NRA, which quickly took control of the rally and its message.

“There is no reason for anti-illegal gun mayors to be in Ohio,” said Linda Walker of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation. “Ohioans are standing up for our constitutional rights, and that’s how it will be.”

After Łuczyk directed some jeers and boos to the crowd, Walker, with the crowd on his side, replaced her as speaker.

This is not surprising. While gun control advocates enjoy lukewarm support from most Americans, the enthusiasm of gun owners and Second Amendment supporters usually prevails. That was the case with President Obama’s background check law, and it continues to be the case across the country.
