Congressman Dean Phillips, a House Democrat from Minnesota, said in a radio interview Friday that he does not believe President Joe Biden should run for re-election in 2024, arguing that a younger generation must hold power.
During Chad Hartman’s radio show on WCCO-AM, Phillips said that while he respects Biden, his time in politics should come to an end, he believes MinnPost.
“I think there will be a new generation of compelling, well-prepared and dynamic Democrats coming forward,” he said, adding that Biden’s age is a problem not only for him but also for other Democrats in the House.
When asked if he wanted Biden to run in 2024, PHILLIPS replied: “To answer your question directly, which I know is quite rare, oh, no, I’m not.”

Other Democrats in Congress are reluctant to say whether they think Biden should run again in 2024 as his poll numbers continue to go into the gutter. Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MO) stated that she did not want to answer this specific question during an interview with a local news outlet.
Biden became radioactive even during the campaign. Congressman Tim Ryan, who is running for Senate in Ohio against Republican J.D. Vance, did not support Biden asked about 2024 as he focuses on his own primary election. He also said he didn’t want Biden or anyone else to join him in Ohio.
Two-faced @TimRyanwho he votes for @JoeBiden100% of the time he won’t say whether he will support Biden in 2024.
Why isn’t he telling Ohioans the truth about his support for Biden’s failed plan? pic.twitter.com/0K1IV0NJaU
