Ohioans from the entire Congress District joined on Wednesday in a circle around the house as a show of solidarity and hope for a fair process of redistribution.
Over 100 Ohio citizens joined the demonstrations organized by spokesman groups, including the common cause of Ohio and the Women’s League of Voters Ohio, demanding the legislators to hear their fears and comply with the state constitution, when the legislators began the process of exaggerating congress districts in the state.
“I hope that they listen and I hope that they will include everyone, not only politicians, not only Republican politicians,” said Bob Ford, a resident of Cedarville.
Ohio must create a recent district map for members of the US Congress to be used in the 2026 election, because the map adopted in March 2022 did not have bilateral support and therefore was useful only for four years, as state law.

In order for the map to be adopted, the proposal would have to undergo a normal account trial, with the committee’s hearing on the act before full vote in both chambers. The legislative calendar shows the session “if necessary” planned for Ohio House on September 23, but without a session of the Senate. Both chambers have a “if necessary” session scheduled for September 30.
Legislative Democrats Ohio introduced their own map proposal On September 9, in what the democratic leaders said, it was an attempt to perform the trial and demonstrate diligence. Bill He did not move from the moment of his intricate.
The portal for citizens to present their own map proposals is also launched, with over 60 proposals already on Redistribution page legislation.
Democrats proposed a congress composition of eight Republican districts and seven districts based on democratic at federal level. Currently, the Congress Delegation Ohio includes 10 Republicans and five Democrats. In 2024Republican President Donald Trump received 52% of the state’s votes, while Democrat Kamala Harris received 44%.
Proponents of anti-gestomus, along with democratic leaders, such as the leader of the home minority Dani Isaacsohn, D-ccinnati, said that the Ohio map is “one of the most gerrymander maps in the country.”
. PRINCETON GERRYMAVERING PROJECT The current “D” congress map was assessed, especially because of its party.
Despite this, the Republican Senator of the USA Berni Moreno said that he wants to see an even larger republican majority in the state to take 12 out of 15 seats.
At the Tuesday rally, the right to vote and anti-germandruary supporters stated that the process should act in the way it was clearly determined after voting means in 2015 and 2018. Constitutional changes, which were approved by voters, set the process, calculations for districts and the principles of drawing them, along with public requirements.
“This is not a rocket science,” said Diera Reese from the group of social justice of The Ohio Organizing Collaborative. “The legislators have a road map for exactly how we can get to fair maps, so there is no excuse why we even talk about going back instead of moving forward on fair maps.”

The rally emphasized that the redistribution districts and votes have for all kinds of Ohioan, but the student Ohio State University Grace Metz wanted to make sure that the voices of students were taken into account.
“The truth is that everyone including Ohioan, including students, should care about who decides where and how the voice counts,” said Metz. “We all deserve an honest Ohio, but this is just the beginning.”
With implementation Senate Bill 1 – The huge Act on the reform of higher education adopted in the General Assembly largely along the party line – scholarships that may be related to diversity are threatened, discussions in the classroom have rules and recent provisions regarding the term and negotiations of the Faculty.
Metz said that the legislative process of the law suffered from the lack of transparency and the lack of contribution of people who would be directly affected, the factors that he wants to change not only at the State House, but in the congress delegation.
“The reality of the situation is that we are afraid, not only because of the upcoming threat to censorship, but also the reckless abandonment with which our representatives treat our tax dollars,” said Metz.
If the legislator may not reach an agreement by the end of September, the trial goes to the majority of the REPPLIANKA Redistriction Commission Ohio, which then has until October 31 to develop a double-sided map. If the Commission cannot agree, the trial returns to the legislator, which will have until November 30 to come up with a map, this time with a straightforward majority necessary to transfer it.
