Washington – chairwoman of the US Senate Committee said on Tuesday that the Government Office of Responsibility should sue Trump’s administration about its efforts to freeze or unilateral cancellation of expenses approved by the Congress.
“I think that Gao, who is authorized under the Act on the stop and budget control of 1974, should do this,” said Susan Collins. “Gao found seven cases in which (detention) violates the act and is to sue.”
Collins, R-Maine, she also told journalists that she did not agree with the Supreme Court Decision last week In his emergency doctor, which allows Trump administration to cancel $ 4 billion.
“I do not agree with the temporary decision of the Supreme Court, but it was not a decision that delved into the advantages of the case,” said Collins. “It will come.”
Collins, one of the more deafening members of his party over the preservation of the constitutional power of the purse, said “Well, let’s see”, asked if he was expecting Gao, a government supervisory authority agency, would win a lawsuit for the administration of Trump, which stops funds.
The GAO and White House budget office did not immediately answer to the request for comment.
Funds frozen for libraries, medical examinations, FEMA
Republicans in the Congress were supporting or relatively still about the efforts of Trump’s administration to freeze or cancel the funds approved by the Congress.
Gao quoted Trump’s administration for illegal limiting the financing of charging electric vehicles, museums and libraries, Head Start, Energy improvements at K-12 schools, financing of medical research at the National Institutes of Health and financing of the Federal Crisis Management Agency.
Patty Murray, D-Wash.
“Today we have another clear reminder of how the unlawful attack of President Trump on our provisions on expenses harms real people in every part of the country – because financing is maintained for homelessness, preparing disasters and much more,” Murray wrote. “It is time for the Republicans to join us, insisting that every last penny that owes the American people to get to the American nation.”
