It wasn’t a great year for Liberty. A few disasters that the government caused:
-Bamacare. This was to “bend the cost curve” down. Central Planners had a lot of time to improve their plan. For the generation, the brightest leftist Wonks focused on healthcare policy. Result? Soviet consumer services come to America.
-government rank. A real disaster was unnecessary panic over her. The zoo would close and little pandas would die. The media sounded that America may not survive even a slightly restricted government. They are pleased to reflect the theorem of politicians that there is no waste or stupid expenditure for cutting.
“The cabinet is bare,” said Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Carif. “There is no more to do.”
Nothing to cut? The government spends $ 3.8 trillion a year!
Many Republicans are almost as willing to spend as Democrats, despite the difference in rhetoric between the two parts. The only reduction of Republican expenditure made in the last few years was the so-called sequestra-what really happened with the non-performance of a legal commitment, because both parties could not reach agreement. Sequester established cuts of around $ 85 billion a year, used to Sliver $ 3.8 trillion of budget and still a smaller piece of our debt 17 trillion USD.
However, even these modest cuts do not happen now as part of a novel congress contract. Since some Republicans were nervous, the sequestra made little cuts in the army’s budget and were afraid that another partial closing of the government could harm their opportunities in the upcoming elections, they gave up the modest discipline of expenses that the sequestrian imposed. Marshal of the house John Boehner, R-Ohio, said that conservatives who want to keep the sequestra are “funny”.
Republican behind the novel contract, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., He was once called fanatical budget slashers, who wanted to push his grandmother out of the cliff. People talked about reading Ayn Rand and is a Cutthroat capitalist. But now even he abandons modest budget cuts that have already been planned.
I suppose the Republicans think they have no choice. They face the democrats who cut out Thread . They hope that the next election will win the Senate and realize that cuts are not particularly popular among the general public.
Americans say they want less expenses. But then they fight for agricultural subsidies, flood insurance and “economic development” programs. Most federal expenses finance social insurance, Medicare and the army. Even citizens who sound in prone to conservative terms, especially the elders, do not want these things to be cut.
-It was also the year in which we learned how much the federal government spy on its citizens. I irritated my colleagues from libertarians, saying that the privacy that I lose in data extraction seems to be a petite price for supervision against terrorism. I published a list of hundreds of other things that the government does, which upset me more. Some answered, calling me a “traitor” and “lino” (only a libertarian).
Listen, libertarians, I am still furious with my government for many things, but I just can’t solve myself with data extraction. My e -Mile fly in the air. As far as I know, my political enemies have already read them.
It is disturbing, however, that the Snooping of National Security Agency goes far beyond what the government first claimed. President Barack Obama assured us that the Supreme Administrative Court does not read our e -Maili or listening to our telephone connections. But it turns out that sometimes they do that.
They say that they are looking for only terrorists and do not utilize records for harassing and punishing their critics. But why should we trust that the same great government, which spends $ 3.8 trillion a year, attaches our homes in search of drugs and regulates almost every part of our lives, will not utilize its cone -sinking powers to look at things other than terrorism?
Considering the truth about Thomas Jefferson’s warning – “the natural progress of things is to bear, and the government will gain on the ground” – I’m afraid that next year it will be even worse for freedom.
To make him a better year, we cannot trust such a powerful government to resist. We should limit his duties to reduce his power.
