Liz Cheney Could Be Punished Again for Continued Support for Democrats’ January 6 Witch Hunt

She will survive the plague, that’s for sure. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is alone on her island, but she is not still. She will tweet at any liberal reporter who comes closest to her. Why? It’s a mystery. These people hate her. She’s a Republican. She’s Dick Cheney’s daughter. It’s her last name that keeps her in the news. It’s her last name that allows the left to exploit her to attack congressional Republicans. She may understand that, but she doesn’t care. If she doesn’t understand why the liberal media hangs on her every word when she criticizes her own party and the GOP base, then she’s helpless.

Cheney has been particularly critical of House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who rightly called the Jan. 6 selection committee a clown show. Nancy Pelosi has already rejected two of his nominees for the effort — Reps. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) — which was intentional. It allowed McCarthy to call the committee what it was — and undermined its credibility before the first session ended. Cheney still believes, for some reason, that this will be a nonpartisan effort. McCarthy is considering stripping Cheney of her Armed Services Committee assignment for her latest outburst (via Hill):

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Thursday did not rule out removing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) from the influential Armed Services Committee amid a partisan dispute over who should serve on the special committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has chosen Cheney, who blames Trump for inciting the Capitol insurrection, as her only GOP nominee for the special panel. But McCarthy came under intense pressure this week from his rank-and-file to strip Cheney of her Armed Services assignment after the speaker rejected two of his five nominees for the panel: Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Jim Banks (R-Ind.), both committed to Trump.

McCarthy protested by withdrawing all five Republican nominees from the commission, promising that Republicans would conduct their own investigation into political violence in the country.

But Cheney refused to leave the panel, insisting that the investigation into the cause of the deadly attack and why the compound was not better fortified must continue. Cheney’s participation gave Democrats a useful argument that the investigation was bipartisan.

But again — it’s not a “bipartisan” investigation if all the members hate Trump and the Republicans. Oh, and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), another anti-Trump Republican, may be elected to serve on this bizarre show.

Cheney has already been kicked out of her leadership position in the House. And for every Republican who doesn’t see the merits of this witch-hunting committee, she should be further diminished on Capitol Hill. Cheney remains a committed soldier carrying water for the narrative that this is about constitutional duty. It’s really about Democrats trying to smear Donald Trump and his supporters. It’s about branding us domestic terror. It’s about distracting the country from Biden’s disasters, like anemic job creation, high inflation, and rising crime. Oh, and his disastrous trip abroad to the G-7 and being almost absent while Israel and Hamas fight over rocket attacks.

She’s being used, but she doesn’t care. Liz, the Democrats are not your friends. The liberal media is not your friends. And we can’t wait to say “I told you so” when this circus starts. This isn’t about truth. This isn’t about principle. This is about establishing a stronghold for the Democrats in the upcoming midterms.
