Key off-year elections in Virginia, Kentucky

During Tuesday’s midterm elections, voters in six states across the country make key decisions about who runs their states, represent them in their state legislatures, decide essential legal issues and even potentially change their constitutions.

Virginia Legislature

Polls close at 7:00 PM ET

On Tuesday, Old Dominion voters went to the polls to elect their representatives to the state House of Delegates and Senate. Control of the upper house hangs in the balance, and Republicans in Virginia hope to win at least two Senate seats and maintain a majority in the House of Delegates, creating a GOP triumvirate consisting of the governor’s mansion and both chambers of the state legislature.

Governor of Kentucky

The first polls will close at 6:00 PM ET

Incumbent Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear faces a challenge from Republican Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron in Tuesday’s election. GOP gains in voter registration and Biden’s unpopularity in the Bluegrass State — combined with Beshear’s previous, extremely slim victory margin — give the GOP hope despite Beshear’s roughly 2-to-1 spending advantage over Cameron.

Ohio Ballot Measures
