Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said Wednesday that the FBI should be disbanded because he believes it is rife with corruption and political influence.
Paxton (pictured above, right), who is under investigation by law enforcement agencies, including by the FBI, told former Trump adviser Steve Bannon (pictured above, left) that the federal agency should be disbanded because ” It would be better to have Nothing.”
“The FBI was created to pursue organized crime. The problem is that they constitute organized crime” – Paxton he told Bannon on his own “War Room” performance. “Right now everyone is asking, well, what about crime? Well, they’re not there to stop crime anymore. This is a political organization that aims to persecute people like you and me. So it would be better to have nothing there than to have this.”
Paxton was impeached by the Republican-led Texas House of Representatives on bribery charges, but the state Senate acquitted him. He was also reported to the FBI at this time.
Paxton also compared the FBI to the Nazi Gestapo due to corruption, after Bannon made the same comparison to the FBI and the Department of Justice.
“They are the Gestapo. We are in Venezuela. We might as well be in China. We might as well have been in Germany in the 1930s and 1940s.” Paxton said. “It’s corrupt, it’s the Gestapo. They no longer obey any law. And… no one can stop them.”
Paxton has he denied any wrongdoing in his legal affairs, but it has been the subject of research for a long time. In 2020, his employees reported him to the FBI on suspicion of corruption related to his contacts with a donor and real estate investor. He was later sued for allegedly retaliating against whistleblowers, but struck a $3.3 million deal with them.
