Vice President Kamala Harris had another particularly stupid moment when she said out noisy the peaceful part of her term about what Democrats think about the rights of children and parents. Monday night performance on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
Meyers discussed Harris’ visits to elementary schools, during which she mentioned “when you see our kids, and I truly believe that these are our kids, these are the kids of our country, of our communities, I mean, our future is really bright if we — if we prioritize them.” She then used that to reference another Democratic priority, adding, “and that’s why we prioritize the climate crisis and the need to address it.” Harris also used these kids as a political stunt, referring to “prioritizing the need to unify our country,” despite the Biden-Harris administration doubling down on demonizing its political opponents as “MAGA Republicans” and “extremists.”

President Joe Biden acknowledged children last April, speaking at the 2022 Teacher of the Year ceremony, in which he declared that “they are all our children.” He told teachers that “the reason you are teachers of the year is because you see this. These are not somebody else’s children. They are just like yours when they are in the classroom.”
The notion that Democrats think they can co-parent with the children’s real parents is even more disturbing given how much this administration is pushing for gender transitions for minors. Similarly, powerful teachers unions are also preventing parents from deciding what pronouns their children operate, or even whether the child will undergo gender transition.
The issue was particularly vital in Virginia’s state election last year, which Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) won by prioritizing education and parental rights. At an event in tardy August, he told Townhall that he believes education will be an vital issue at the federal level, just as it was in his race.
On the federal level, House Republicans released their “Engaging America” plan tardy last month, which included Parents’ Bill of Rights.
Nearly a year after the election, the issue continues to grow. Fairfax County Public Schools, the largest district in the state and one of the largest in the country, was among those hiding such crucial information from parents. Youngkin last month presented updated guidelines to engage parents, but districts in Northern Virginia appear unwilling to comply. Earlier this week, as Madeline reported, Youngkin appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” to defend his approach to the key issue that got him elected.
“Unlike Democrats, Republicans know that parents — not liberal politicians — know best when it comes to their own children. In 28 days, voters will put an end to the Democrats’ war on parents and make it clear that they are not going to co-parent with the government,” RNC Religious Communications Director Andrew Brennan said in a statement to Townhall about the segment.
On the second issue Harris has engaged in, climate change is also not as much of a priority as Democrats think it is. Depending on the poll, it is either not a priority at all, or it matters to the Democratic base.
Speaking of priorities, Vice President Harris earlier in the segment seemed disappointed, as did Meyers — who couldn’t have given a softer interview if he tried — on the issues that matter to voters. She, like the entire Democratic Party, has zeroed in on abortion.
When Meyers asked Harris what she would like to accomplish if more Democratic senators were elected, in terms of what they might not accomplish in an evenly divided Senate, the vice president spoke in favor of passing the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), saying they only need two senators on their side to do it. Biden himself has made it clear that he favors repealing the filibuster to pass such legislation, which lacks even a uncomplicated majority in the Senate. Such legislation would not only codify Roe v. Wade, It would expand the scope of the bill and invalidate pro-life laws passed at the state level.
Speaking of the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning Roe In Dobbs v Jackson Harris said of the decision that “this means that in the next 29 days, if we maintain our Senate majority and elect two more female United States Senators, the President will be able to sign the Women’s Health Care Act into law, which will enshrine protections in law.” Roe v. Wade.”
She went on to emphasize that it is “critically important” and added that “it’s going to take a lot of effort to make sure that you vote the other way, those seats in the House, those are two-year terms,” also urging people to elect Democrats in a House that Republicans are even more favored to win than they were in the precarious Senate. “Those seats in the Senate, six-year terms. So think about it. Do we let this go from the status quo, as it is now, for the next two years, six years, or in the next 29 days. Make a plan to vote and actually vote on this.”
Meyers responded by saying, “I think — I think, rightfully, you know, a lot of people think abortion is an important issue.”
Many polls show that abortion is not that vital an issue, especially compared to economic issues like inflation, where Republicans have a large advantage. National polls like last month’s Monmouth University Pollshow that abortion ranks seventh out of 12 most vital issues. Public opinion polls in states such as Nevada and ohioshow that although abortion is in second place, it is distant secondly, economic issues.
