Hunter Biden’s defense attorney Abbe Lowell said Tuesday in a Delaware court during his client’s federal gun trial that he plans to call President James Biden to testify in the case.
Hunter and his Uncle Jim are widely considered to be close. Jim Biden has helped his first son through rehab in the past, according to the Associated Press.
In the background of the trial, Hunter and James Biden are at the center of allegations from House Republicans that members of the Biden family used their name to gain influence and secure lucrative foreign deals while the family patriarch, Joe Biden, was vice president.
The younger Biden remembered his uncle fondly in his memoir “Beautiful Things,” detailing his role in helping him rehabilitate in California.
“Dad knew that if his little brother asked me to do something, I would do it” – Hunter he wrote in his memoirs. “Uncle Jim has a superpower: he gets things done. So he hopped on a plane to Los Angeles, pulled me out of my room at the Hollywood Roosevelt and said, “I found a place.” Let’s go.'”
