The house run by Republicans on Thursday adopted provisions on limiting foreign influence at US universities and universities.
Deeperation Act adopted in voting 241–169.
Legislation requires school to report foreign gifts that amount to USD 50,000 or more to the Education Department.
Legislation prohibits donations from China and Russia.
“The lack of transparency related to foreign relations with the universities of our nation should apply to every American when we see stolen research, anti -Semitic propaganda and academic censorship”, chairman of the Education Committee and Tim Walberg employees He said in a statement after the adoption of the Act.
“This is an important win for transparency, responsibility and protection of students against foreign opponents who are trying to influence universities in the USA”, Washington Representative of GOP Michael Baumgartner said after the adoption of the law.
