House Republicans are demanding all documents previously provided to the committee on January 6

House Speaker Barry Loudermilk, D-Ga., sent requests to 15 federal agencies on Wednesday requesting all records previously turned over to the select committee on Jan. 6 after the Democratic-led committee failed to turn most of those records over to the committee’s recent Republican majority after the 2022 elections.

Subcommittee on Oversight of the Loudermilk House of Representatives Committee on Administration he investigated the response to January 6 from various federal agencies and the Capitol Police, as well as the investigation of the Democratic-led commission on January 6 and its final report.

“On January 6, the Select Committee, chaired by Bennie Thompson and Vice Chair Liz Cheney, obtained numerous documents from federal agencies and the D.C. government during the course of its investigation. However, only a portion of these records were properly archived and distributed to House Republicans in January 2023. Therefore, Congressman Loudermilk has no choice but to repeat the work of the select committee,” reads the subcommittee’s statement announcing the letters to federal agencies.

The applications are submitted to the committee taped interviews of key witnesses on January 6 was missing. The Democrat who headed the January 6 select committee, Bennie Thompson of Missouri, responded that he did not believe he had a duty to protect them.

“By requesting this data directly from federal and DC agencies, which should still have records of what was reported to the select committee, Chairman Loudermilk is working to specifically determine how many documents were not properly archived in order to conduct a full investigation and publish the full truth so Americans can draw their own conclusions about what happened on January 6, 2021.” – concludes the press release.
