Here’s what most voters think about life-altering gender surgery for children

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) came into keen conflict with his party delayed last year over vetoing legislation protecting vulnerable children from irreversible, experimental gender reassignment procedures. Following backlash over his decision, DeWine signed an executive order banning such services for children before the state Legislature completely overrode his veto.

While LGBTQ+ advocates like to argue that children deserve access to these life-changing procedures, a majority of American voters disagree.

Most voters support state laws banning gender reassignment surgery for minors and trust parents more than teachers, according to a up-to-date poll from CRC Research for the 85 Fund.

The poll, shared exclusively with The Daily Wire, found that 67 percent of voters support laws banning minors from being given cross-sex hormones or undergoing gender reassignment surgery. This data comes from 1,600 registered voters nationwide from January 3 to 7, including 30% Republicans, 34% independents and 35% Democrats (via DW):

Every demographic group surveyed, from Republicans (73%) to independents (71%) to Democrats (61%), expressed some support for state laws protecting children from transgender procedures. More than 20 states have passed laws protecting children from transgender procedures, with courts upholding some and blocking others.

The survey also found that voters overwhelmingly opposed the creation of independent health centers in schools to promote hormone therapy for transgender people and other procedures for transgender people.

“This poll confirms that gender ideology is a unifying issue across party lines, and the huge majority of Americans support parental rights and limiting irreversible medical interventions for minors. Americans also oppose our government promoting health clinics in community schools, which further threatens parents’ rights,” January Littlejohn, a parent advocate at Do No Harm, a group that seeks to end the politicization of medicine, told The Daily Wire in response to the poll results . .

Eighty-one percent of respondents expressed support for informing parents about discussions about gender dysphoria and related topics, while 10% disagreed.

When it comes to discussing gender and sexual orientation issues in school, 88 percent of Republicans, 76 percent of independents, and 71 percent of Democrats said they trusted parents more than teachers and school officials to discuss issues of gender identity and sexuality.

“These numbers clearly demonstrate that voter support for family involvement in children’s lives transcends political ideology. These numbers are consistent with previous surveys by PDE, the Becket Fund and others – so it is utterly astonishing that education officials seem to feel it is their sacred duty to spend scarce taxpayer resources encouraging students to keep secrets from their loved ones, thereby undermining the relationship parent-child,” Nicole Neily, president of “Parents Defending Education,” told DW.

In December, Townhall reported on how two Michigan parents filed a lawsuit against their child’s school district, alleging that the district called their autistic daughter a male name and male pronouns behind their backs. And before that incident, Townhall reported how a “woke” teacher in New York allegedly “manipulated” a fifth-grade student into changing her gender without her parents’ knowledge or consent and caused her to have “suicidal thoughts,” according to the lawsuit.
