House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has reportedly named five Republicans to serve on the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.
The resolution to create the committee passed the House of Representatives by a 222-190 vote last month. Five of the 13 House members appointed to the Democratic-led committee will be chosen by McCarthy, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will choose the remaining eight.
The minority leader named Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, Illinois Rep. Rodney Davis, North Dakota Rep. Kelly Armstrong and Texas Rep. Troy Nehls, according to statement.

McCarthy said he wanted to “make sure we had the best people on the commission,” praising Davis’s work on the administration panel and Nehl’s years in law enforcement.
McCarthy’s nominations come days before the committee’s first hearing, which will feature witnesses from the U.S. Capitol Police Department and the Metropolitan Police Department.Political)
Pelosi, for her part, selected Republican Representative Liz Cheney, Democratic Representatives Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, California Representative Adam Schiff, Maryland Representative Jamie Raskin, California Representative Zoe Lofgren, California Representative Pete Aguilar, Virginia Representative Elaine Luria and Florida Representative Stephanie Murphy.
The first hearing will be held on July 27.
