Greg Pence will not run for re-election to the US House of Representatives

Indiana Rep. Greg Pence, brother of former Vice President Mike Pence, announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election.

Pence, who has represented Indiana’s sixth congressional district since 2019, made the announcement on Oct.

“As a former Marine Corps officer, I approached this job with purpose,” his statement read. “After three terms in office, I have decided not to run for re-election. Throughout the remainder of my term this year, our team will continue to focus on providing exceptional service to constituents.”

“To the voters of Indiana’s 6th District, it is an honor and privilege to represent you in our nation’s capital,” Pence wrote.

This week, another Indiana Republican, Rep. Larry Bucshon, announced he will not seek re-election in 2024, as he announced in a statement posted on X.

“The Scriptures teach us that ‘to everything there is a season,’ and over the Christmas holidays, after much discernment and prayer, it became clear to me that it was time to end my season of public service,” Bucshon said in a statement, which covered Townhall. “Therefore, I will not seek re-election to an eighth term and will not terminate my service in the House of Representatives at the end of the 118th Congress.”

Pence and Bucshon are the last two GOP House members to announce they will not seek re-election. Last year, Indiana Republican Victoria Spartz said she would not seek re-election to the House or U.S. Senate in 2024, Townhall confirmed. However IndyStar last month she announced that she might run for office after all.

This week, Colorado Republican Doug Lamborn announced he would not seek re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Previously, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy resigned from Congress in delayed December, and last week it was revealed that Ohio Republican Bill Johnson would resign from office on January 21 to become president of Youngstown State University.
