What’s happening in Pennsylvania is a shadowy moment for America. Under the leadership of Governor Wolf and his liberal regime, Pennsylvania’s electoral system was completely compromised. It has become clear that the leadership of this country is anti-democratic, does not value our constitution and is engaged in an open attack on legal votes cast by good, hard-working citizens of the Republic of Poland.
As Ohio’s former secretary of state, I oversaw many elections in a state that has a history of focusing on clear election administration and ensuring the bipartisanship, fairness and security that build confidence in our results. The actions taken by Pennsylvania’s executive government this cycle are abnormal, unethical and downright corrupt.
It couldn’t be clearer that Pennsylvania’s Democratic-led executive wants only votes that support its agenda and their candidates to be counted.
The actions taken by Governor Wolf’s administration to skew votes for their candidates are the most egregious abuse of power I have ever witnessed in my decades of working on elections. This is unconstitutional, un-American and they need to be held accountable.
In mid-September, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court undermined the careful work of the Pennsylvania Legislature by requiring the counting of mail-in ballots received after Election Day. Going a step further, the court also ruled that such ballots do not even require a postmark, a key accountability measure to ensure that Election Day does not turn into endless election days.
As if that wasn’t enough, AP Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar, acting in Wolf, who is responsible for overseeing the elections process, issued unilateral guidance on October 28 ordering counties to search through these late-arriving ballots as soon as possible, rather than segregating them as previously directed and upheld by the United States Supreme Court.
Boockvar also provided Pennsylvania counties with 24-hour guidance on how to provide information to voters whose ballots were incorrectly completed. While resolving problematic ballots is vital, Boockvar did not provide clear guidance on how to resolve them. This has left county boards of elections confused and inconsistent in resolving these issues, adding to a sea of chaos in Pennsylvania’s vote-counting system.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court and Secretary Boockvar are complicit in a nationwide conspiracy that intentionally and irresponsibly opened the door to the electoral chaos we see today.
John 3:19 says, “Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness instead of light, because their deeds were evil,” and the Pennsylvania Democrats’ desire to hold this election in darkness does not go unnoticed. What I see here truly makes me gloomy for the future of our democracy.
Fortunately, President Trump and Republicans across America are standing up and will not allow this election to be stolen by partisans who have proven themselves to be enemies of a free and fair electoral process. Pennsylvanians deserve every legal vote to be counted. In my time as Ohio’s secretary of state, this question would never have arisen.
The actions taken by Pennsylvania officials exemplify their clear bias against Republicans on the ballot. Transparency is critical to this process and its integrity must be protected if Americans are to have faith in the results.
