Former Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman Jane Timken Will Run for Senate After Winning for Former President Trump

Former Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman Jane Timken has formally announced her candidacy for the Ohio Senate seat being vacant in 2022 by Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) after he announced he would not seek re-election.

In her campaign launch video, Timken praised her work to advance President Trump’s “America First” agenda and warned against allowing the country to turn into a socialist nation.

“We cannot allow America to become a socialist country,” Timken said. “I’m running for the United States Senate to stand up for you. Just like when I stood next to President Trump and supported his America First agenda.”

Under Timken’s leadership, President Trump decisively won Ohio’s electoral votes in the 2016 and 2020 elections. On the opening day of the Senate, she proposed that she “clean house” in her “Establishment Kasich” state, taking a dig at the former governor.

“As chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, I cleaned the house of the Kasich establishment that was trying to elect Hillary Clinton AND Joe Biden– she continued. “I united the party and gave President Trump a decisive second victory in Ohio.”

Timken is joined by Josh Mandel, two-time Ohio state treasurer, in his third attempt at running for an Ohio Senate seat. Republican Congressman Jim Jordan ruled out running for Senate after Portman announced his retirement.
