On Tuesday, the House proposed a measure that would reduce Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s salary to $1.
The bill, introduced under the Holman Rule by Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, was adopted as an amendment to the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act of 2024.
The Holman Rule – which gives members the ability to propose amendments to appropriations bills that would reduce the pay of certain federal employees or programs to $1, essentially making them unfundable – was passed again in January when House Republicans passed a package of legislation following Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is vying to become speaker.
This is not the first time Greene and other Republicans have used the policy of cutting salaries to limit the Biden administration’s fielding of nominees. Greene suggested another amendment lowering wages for the Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in September. (Hill)
Greene specially summoned him organizing bicycle rides to the White House, using taxpayer funds to accept LGBTQ awards, and failing the people of East Palestine, Ohio after a toxic train derailed. While the Georgia Republican celebrated the amendment’s passage, she said even a dollar was too much.
Pete Buttigieg isn’t doing his job. It involves phony photo shoots and being flown on a taxpayer-funded private jet to collect LGBTQ awards for him.
I’m glad my amendment was adopted, but he doesn’t deserve a penny. https://t.co/KJndQ5taTH

Pete Buttigieg is not serving the American people.
It took him weeks to travel to East Palestine after a toxic train derailed while on duty.
My fix of lowering his salary to $1 means he is being paid too much. https://t.co/2N9vuXOGcj

🚨 BREAKING: I’m proud to announce that my amendment to the Pete Buttigieg FIRE Act just PASSED the House.
Pothole Pete organized phony bike rides to the White House and used taxpayer-funded private planes to receive rewards for the way certain people had sex.
American taxpayers should not… pic.twitter.com/9fq9XrXLV2
