Currently, Republicans control 10 out of 15 American fines in Ohio, i.e. 66% of places. In 2024, Ohioans supported Donald Trump 55% of the votes.

In the latest proposal of the Democrats maps, districts would have a failure of eight Republican and seven democratic fines, in what Antonio called “the most fair redistribution proposal that each party presented”.

This division would leave the Republican control of 53% of places compared to 47% for democrats.

The OHIO General Assembly has until the end of the month to develop a congress redistribution plan, which must receive 66% of consent in both legislative chambers.

To be approved, the plan must have the support of half of the Democrats in Ohio Chamber and Senate.

If the legislator may not receive a double -sided agreement that they need until the end of the month, the Ohio RedistRection Commission will be reactivated. The commission is to reach a bilateral agreement by the end of October.

If they reach the impasse, the trial returns to the legislator, which can then transfer maps with a basic majority. Without a bilateral agreement, the legislator will have to redraw the maps for the next four years.

“This map does not agree or distract any side or sowing,” said Antonio. “These are rules.”

Antonio and the leader of Dani Isaacsohn’s home minority said that they were open to cooperation with the Republicans, but put their map to start the trial when the Republicans did not move to introduce a map or start the public process of interrogation on the redistribution of the congress.

“If our colleagues, Republicans, are involved in double -sided, must join urgency and pass a fair, constitutional plan by the end of the month,” said Antonio.

Antonio and Isaacsohn have said earlier that they were predicting “Another opportunity for Gerrymander The Districts” from Republicans.

Republican American senator Bernie Moreno in Ohio commented that the Republicans would give 80% of republican congress districts in the state, occupying 12 out of 15 seats. Moreno won his place in 2024 with just over 50% of votes.

At Tuesday’s press conference, Antonio said that state democrats were in contact with the Democrats of Congress, but only to talk about this process, not ask about regional preferences.

But democratic leaders remain positive despite the Republican Supervision, which can end the clock in this process.

Ohio legislative Republicans have not only the majority in both legislative chambers, but also have a majority in the Redistriction Committee in Ohio, if this process occur.

Even if the democrats in the country wanted to play Texas Democrat Texas guides And you will leave, Republicans would still have a quorum in the commission.

When the legislator considers its own proposals, society has the ability Send your own maps to be consideredwhich many citizens have already done.

Although the initial plan of the Democrats no longer included elaborate public proposals, Antonio said that they would “consider everything.”

When asked to comment on the democratic map, the press secretary of the home most club said: “Considering that this process is still at an early stage, most of House in Ohio will not comment on any specific maps at that time.”
