Democrats Abandon Tim Ryan? No, It’s a Fake

Panic sells, or so it seems. I would never donate to a campaign whose tactic is, “If you don’t give us, we’ll shut down and lose!” because that kind of campaign doesn’t seem all that sustainable and unlikely to succeed. In other words, the stench of desperation, at least in my opinion, would turn off supporters. But that stench is a tactic used by Rep. Tim Ryan, a Democrat, in his Senate race in Ohio.

It all started just a few days ago, after the Ohio Senate debate, where Republican JD Vance humiliated Ryan on the issue of race. It was witty to watch. Then it got even funnier to watch the emails from both his campaign and the coordinating groups.

The Democratic Strategy Institute sent one under the sender name “ignored and abandoned” with the subject line “NBC News: NOBODY cares about Tim Ryan.” Who is this intended for?

Then came an email from Ryan himself, in coordination with a group called the National Democratic Training Committee, where they were sharing any donations they received. (I don’t think the National Democratic Training Committee is affiliated with the party itself, so I’m not sure how they can coordinate like that, but these people make the laws, so I’m sure it’s legal in some way.) The subject line of the email from the candidate himself was, “Please help.” As if that wasn’t uninspiring enough, the first thing you see when you open the email is a grim photo of Ryan with the words, “I need a miracle. PLEASE. Can you chip in?” scrawled across it.

In this email, Congressman Ryan writes: “Stop whatever you’re doing. Don’t close this email. Don’t open Facebook. I’m neck and neck in the polls, but the Democrats are abandoning me en masse. And I’m going to need a last-minute miracle to hit my $10,000 goal tonight. So please, can you chip in to help me win?” Why would anyone reading this think giving him money would be a good utilize of their money? “My campaign sucks. Hell, I suck and everyone hates me, but can’t you give?” Who thought that was a good idea?

Never one to fall miniature on the stupidity/insanity meter, the Stop Republicans group sent out their proposal and suddenly it seemed like something might change. “Derek Hunter: This is UNPRECEDENTED. Stop what you’re doing and read carefully. Nate Silver says Tim Ryan could turn Ohio blue — so generous Democrats have unlocked an emergency 200% match on all donations to help Tim Ryan. If you donate by midnight, your gift will be worth DOUBLE.” These wealthy Democrats are only willing to set their money on fire if you set your money on fire first!

At least this email, sent on Saturday, sounded bullish. Oddly enough, the link to “200%-match” that was supposed to end at midnight was still dynamic on Sunday afternoon. It’s almost like they’re lying.

Also on Saturday, the National Democratic Training Committee sent out another email, this time titled “It’s Done. It’s Over. GOODBYE.” Their subject line: “Tim Ryan GONE.” That email was sent at 10:48 a.m. Saturday, and at 11:58 a.m. Saturday, the Democratic Strategy Institute sent out another email titled “MAJOR Ohio Update” with the subject line “Tim Ryan Surges.”

Normally, two groups sending emails with exactly opposite themes wouldn’t be worth paying attention to—each group has to decide for itself how best to squeeze money out of idiotic Democrats who still have money in their bank accounts or room on their credit cards. But at the bottom of the Democratic Strategy Institute email is a disclaimer with a little tidbit of information that anyone who pays attention will find intriguing. “Who are we?” the disclaimer reads. “The Democratic Strategy Institute is a new project of the National Democratic Training Committee, the largest free Democratic training organization in the country.”

This same group sent out emails asking for funds within an hour with completely contradictory messages. Did they expect no one to notice? Or was it just me? Are Democrats so blinded by ignorance that this kind of schizophrenic fundraising works for them?

It has to. Since last Monday’s debate, I’ve received 33 emails from the organizations listed above, as well as the DNC itself and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, all with varying degrees of desperation and full of lies. In other words, just your typical leftist fundraising argument. I hope they’ll be a lot funnier after the election, when the Democrats are getting voted out.
