Democratic candidates in Red States are doubling down on extremist pro-abortion policies

A lot has been done about abortion as a campaign topic, pushed by Democrats and amiable pollsters, as well as the mainstream media. In this context, it is usually a one-sided approach to the problem, and Republicans are portrayed as extreme on this issue. This narrative pays little attention to the radical, extreme and out-of-touch nature of Democratic politicians who refuse to accept any legal restrictions on abortion after the US Supreme Court sent the case back to the states to decide when that will happen. overturned Roe v. Wade with his Dobbs v. Jackson decision in June. This even applies to Democratic candidates in red states, even though such a pro-abortion stance is unpopular.

While the mainstream media is often sympathetic to Democrats and pro-abortion positions, they occasionally hold Democrats accountable for such extremist positions, or at least try to keep them sincere. During Sunday’s “State of the Union” on CNN, host Dana Bash asked Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) about possible restrictions on abortion, which he supports. Ryan will run against J.D. Vance in November.

During the exchange, Ryan cited arguments from Democrats who are trying to escape their position, saying that “ultimately it has to be a decision between the woman and her doctor.” Bash aptly pointed out, “that means – it sounds like you’re talking about no limits.”

However, the senatorial candidate tried to further avoid this issue by misleading her about abortions performed late in pregnancy, which is another pro-abortion point of discussion. “Well, I think so… absolutely no one supports abortion at all. Nobody is for this. It rarely happens,” he said, even if his party’s position and his own words suggest this is the case.

Although later abortions may be considered “rare” because 1 percent of abortions performed in 2019 occurred after 21 weeks of pregnancy, there were still nearly 6,300 abortions performed later in pregnancy. According to the CDCthat we know about. Not all states report their abortion statistics, including California, which is the most populous state and has some of the most relaxed abortion laws in the world.

Next, studies show it too many abortions later in pregnancy occur not because “something very tragic is happening in this pregnancy,” as Ryan suggested, but because as a result logistical and/or socio-economic factors.

Ryan also misrepresented abortion exceptions. Everyone state has exceptions for saving his mother’s life. “But what we are saying is, are we going to preserve a woman’s right to make the final decision to save her own life? I mean, come on. Like, should the government really be there? This sounds very anti-American. ” Ryan continued to claim, even saying that his opponent is pro-life in cases of rape and incest, has a position “where there are no exceptions.”

Vance does not take the position that there are “no exceptions” because he believes in exceptions in situations where the mother’s life is in danger.

Vance’s campaign responded to Ryan’s pro-abortion comments in a statement to Townhall. “You have to go to communist dictatorships on the other side of the planet to find pro-abortion policies as radical as Tim Ryan’s. “His extreme stance on support for late-term abortion is reflected in law in only two places: China and North Korea, and he is too liberal for Ohio,” the campaign said in a statement.

Ohio was once considered purple, but especially after former President Donald Trump took office, it turned red. Surveys AND forecasts also favors Vance over Ryan in internal elections considering what the race will be like “Solid Republican.”

But it’s not just in Ohio that pro-abortion Democrats are making fools of themselves.

Last Thursday, a “trigger law” went into effect in Texas that makes performing or attempting to perform an abortion a crime, except when the mother’s life is in danger. Other similar state laws also went into effect, to the honor of pro-life advocates and the dismay of pro-abortion Democrats.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke, no stranger to shameless attention-seeking press conferences, spoke to reporters from Houston Women’s Reproductive Serviceswhich used to perform abortions but can now only offer referrals.

While O’Rourke criticizing Republicans for their pro-life policies, including Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX), is nothing fresh, his remarks included a particularly absurd point, as he claimed that it is abortion on demand without legal restrictions that makes makes the most sense.

During the event, a reporter asked him whether, if he were governor, he would “allow any restrictions on abortion, including partial-birth abortions.”

Like most other Democrats, O’Rourke tried to dance while answering a direct question. “I trust women and their doctors to make decisions about their bodies, health care and future,” he offered.

Not only has O’Rourke expressed no support for any restrictions, including partial-birth abortions, but he added that his position is “the best, the smartest, uh, the most constitutional and the most American and Texas approach to this issue, and I would this one came up.”

This is a particularly odd position because the so-called right to abortion was interpreted by the Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe v. Wade based on a penumbra, or “feeling,” of what the Fourteenth Amendment says.

Moreover, when it comes to retroactive constitutional positions, O’Rourke has consistently opposed the Second Amendment. Earlier this month, at an event, he claimed he had the right to bear arms, which Is clearly in the Constitution, is not absolute. “Is the Second Amendment absolute or are there any limits on it? Is any constitutional right absolute or are there any limitations,” he asked.

Race now and always favored Abbott over O’Rourke. In addition to losing his Senate seat in 2018 and his presidential seat in 2020, it appears he will likely be able to add his run for governor to his losing streak.
