The District of Columbia agency hosted a training session last month aimed at educating undocumented immigrants and more foreigners how to voteaccording to documents obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch.
News of the training session hosted by local authorities in the nation’s capital comes as House Republicans are pushing a bill — with the support of Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La. — requiring proof of American citizenship to register to vote.
The D.C. Board of Elections held an event on April 10 titled “Non-Citizen Voting Education Virtual Training.”
A court order was obtained 13 pages PowerPoint presentation of the training session pursuant to a request made under the Freedom of Information Act. On one slide the presentation says:
Non-US Citizen Residents can vote in district elections as mayor, attorney general, president or member(s) of the D.C. Council, member(s) of the State Board of Education, or advisory commissioner(s) for neighborhood affairs. Residents who are not U.S. citizens cannot vote for federal offices.
The Heritage Foundation’s surveillance project has previously raised concerns about non-citizen voting in the District of Columbia. (Heritage founded The Daily Signal in 2014.)

The District of Columbia is local governments joined in in California, Maryland and Vermont, allowing noncitizens to vote in local elections. Federal law allows only U.S. citizens to vote in federal elections.
Country courts blocked New York City does not allow non-citizens to vote there.
“Illegal aliens and aliens should not vote in any election,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch. “That Congress allows the legal theft of citizens’ votes in our nation’s capital by illegal aliens is inexcusable.”
The Change in the District of Columbia its election code last year allowing foreigners, including undocumented immigrants, to vote at local D.C. offices.
As noted in my book “The voter suppression mythDemocrats have long sought to change election laws to gain political advantage. These non-citizen voting laws mimic tactics used by New York’s legendary Tammany Hall and other political machines that control gigantic city politics.
The District’s presentation explains what criteria must be met to register to vote if an individual is not a U.S. citizen.
“To register to vote in the District of Columbia as a non-citizen, you must: be 17 and 18 years of age by the next general election; Maintain domicile in the District of Columbia for at least 30 days before the election in which you intend to vote; Not claim residency or the right to vote in any state, territory or country; The court did not recognize him as a person legally incapable of voting,” we read in the presentation.
Neither the D.C. Board of Elections nor the office of D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, responded to The Daily Signal’s request for comment on this report.
