Several Democratic congressmen facing tough reelection victories, especially those from swing or GOP-leaning states or House districts, are dropping out of the party’s nominating convention in Chicago this week.
Montana Senator Jon Tester has not yet endorsed Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and was the only Republican state delegate to abstain from voting for Harris, According to Montana Public Radio.
Instead of attending the Democratic National Convention, Tester will fundraise, farm, and campaign for re-election, according to Montana Free Press.
Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen he said New York Times that he will be campaigning this week and needs to be close to his home state.
Tester, Brown and Rosen are three of the six Democratic senators most likely to lose the election, according to the Roll Call news agency.
Representative Jared Golden, a Democrat from Maine, declined to participate in the virtual vote on Harris’ nomination, Bangor Daily News reported. He also refused to say who he would vote for in November.
