The border crisis is the No. 1 issue for voters and it’s killing Democrats. To my surprise, my party – the stupid party – did something intelligent (what Fox The News tried to talk them out of it.) They forced Democrats to vote to impeach the mastermind of the invasion, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.
Democrats know that if they don’t blame President Biden’s immigration policies on the Republican Party, they could be wiped out this fall. They might even be able to re-elect Trump.
Their plan: work with open borders, supporting amnesty Republicans will come up with an immigration “deal” that will be much worse than what we have now. If Republicans are stupid enough to vote for this, they are to blame for the border crisis. And if they reject it, the media will never stop telling us that this is a fantastic bill that would completely end illegal immigration, but Republicans rejected it for vulgar reasons.
The most cursory look at the immigration “deal” shows that it would do absolutely nothing to protect the border – and would make the situation much worse.
One of many examples: the agreement clearly provides for the arrival of up to 5,000 illegal people in our country every day. That’s 2 million a year, or about twice as much as under Presidents Bush and Obama. Biden may admit more, but that’s the bare minimum of illegals that can be admitted. It’s as if Senate negotiators were playing tricks to see how many members of Congress actually read the bill.
Republicans seem ready to reject this monstrosity. But stopping bad things from happening is a pretty low bar, one that only Senator James Lankford and Fox News can exceed. When we get to the “Moving the Ball Forward” step, the GOP tends to choke.
Impeaching Mayorkas would move the ball forward. Unfortunately, this week his impeachment was blocked by three moronic House Republicans: Ken Buck of Colorado, Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin, and Tom McClintock of California. You can get some Republicans not to step on the rake all the time and all Republicans not to step on the rake some of the time, but you can’t get all Republicans not to step on the rake all the time.
Fortunately, a vote on Mayorkas’ impeachment can be held again, and if Republicans don’t want to lose, that should happen. Over and over again.
Democrats’ control of the media could muddy the waters over the heinous immigration bill. Republicans need something dramatic to prove conclusively that no matter what individual Democrats say, they are all rooting for the destruction of America.
The only way to put the blame for immigration Armageddon at the Democrats’ feet, where it belongs, is to get them to vote to impeach Mayorka. (You always forget this, Republicans, but you don’t have the media.)
Biden has continually claimed that he would love to enforce the border, if only Congress would pass a bill giving him the tools to do so.
You’re probably asking yourself: Has it never occurred to any previous Congress to give the president the power to detain illegal people at our border?
Yes, indeed! In fact, the law requires the president to detain illegal immigrants at the border – even beloved asylum seekers.
None of the “migrants” Biden acknowledges have a credible fear of persecution, a requirement for asylum. Not one. They come here for welfare and criminal opportunities after destroying their own countries.
However, even those found to have a credible fear of persecution must be detained until their cases are fully resolved. (Section 235(b)(1)(B)(ii) of the Immigration and Naturalization Act). According to written federal law, illegal people are not allowed to enter.
These are bills that were thrown out by Republicans and Democrats after generations of negotiations in Congress and signed by presidents of both parties.
Mayorkas is openly breaking the law.
Democrats say Republicans are trying to impeach Mayorka over a mere “political dispute” rather than “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
That’s like saying Dylann Roof had a “political dispute” with the state of South Carolina over its murder laws. Roof believed he should be allowed to shoot unarmed black people in a church, but the state disagreed. See? Political dispute.
I’m surprised you have to say this, but you can’t break the law and then walk away saying you don’t agree with the policy behind the law.
This is what Democrats – plus three not-so-smart Republicans – are seriously arguing.
Fox News’ Neil Cavuto ridiculed Mayorka’s impeachment as pointless and told Republican Warren Davidson of Ohio, “he won’t lose his job.” Sure, so what’s the deal?
The idea is to do what I’ve been begging Republicans to do since they won the House majority: force Democrats to cast unpopular votes.
We have an significant election in 10 months, with half a dozen Democrats in the Senate holding vulnerable positions who have so far been unable to say anything about their party’s worst problem.
Do Democrats care that millions of criminal, terrorist and needy illegal immigrants are pouring into our country? Who knows!
Let them vote. Mayorkas is entirely responsible for the invasion. Will Democrats vote to keep him in office? What about sense? Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Kyrsten Sinema (Arizona), Bob Casey (Pennsylvania), Jacky Rosen (Nevada), and Tammy Baldwin (Wisconsin) all running for re-election in conservative or semi-conservative states?
Could you at least put them in a challenging position, Republicans? If the House impeaches, Senate Democrats will have to express their opinion.
They either vote to remove the Mayorkas or admit they don’t give a damn about our wide open border. This is a gift to every Republican running for office this year.
