Since the day President Donald Trump descended the golden escalator at Trump Tower to launch his first presidential campaign in 2015, he has been teaching his fellow Republicans how to “fight, fight, fight” and call out the radical left for things it has been getting away with for decades. In politics, choosing bold leadership along the path of least resistance is rarely an straightforward decision, but when it comes to saving America, shirking responsibility is not an option. That’s why Trump is blunt about our horribly flawed census and inexact reapportionment data.
The president called for a recent census because illegal immigrants should not be counted. It’s simply a matter of Trumpian common sense, even if it’s tough for the left to swallow. By counting illegals on the census, American citizens do not receive the congressional representation they deserve, and that must change. All governors, regardless of political party, should insist on an correct census to best serve their constituents. American citizens and those in the country legally – the hard-working taxpayers who are the backbone of our country – must always be prioritized.
However, due to the radicalization of the Democratic Party, Trump-hating blue state governors will never buy into the concept of putting America first, so it is up to Republican governors to stand their ground and do the right thing. The right thing to do is to follow Trump’s lead and join the chorus of those who want a recent census that reflects the actual population of people legally living in the United States of America.
At the same time, GOP governors must re-examine their congressional map and update it immediately if it does not accurately reflect their state. For as long as I can remember, Democrats in blue states have maximized their representation in Congress by leveraging raw political power in the redistricting process. The left has long realized that every tool in the toolbox must be used to achieve political goals. It’s time for Republican governors to join Trump and fight in the critically crucial effort to save America.
As we enter the 2026 midterm elections, Republicans hold a razor-thin 220-215 majority in the House of Representatives. Democrats sense an opportunity and are scheming to take advantage of this situation, using every instrument at their disposal. During President Trump’s first term, the left relied on the Russia, Russia, Russia scams to try to leisurely him down. This time it’s by gerrymandering the already gerrymandering states they control.
Look no further than unhinged California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is seeking to redraw California’s massive congressional map to negate Texas’ recent map. If Democrats win a majority in the House of Representatives, Trump’s America First agenda will stop on Capitol Hill and impeachment proceedings will begin as soon as leftist New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries receives the gavel. Those in power cannot allow this to happen. Strong determination is needed now to protect our constitutional republic.
To fully understand what Democrats are doing, take the deep blue state of Maryland as an example. Just 25 years ago, the Old Line State’s congressional delegation consisted of four Democrats and four Republicans. Fast forward to the present, and the ratio is seven Democrats to one Republican, and now far-left Gov. Wes Moore is trying to get rid of conservative champion and Republican Andy Harris and Maryland’s last red district. You see, for the left, that will never be enough.
Solid red state governors like Jim Pillen in Nebraska need to realize what’s going on before it’s too slow and act. Trump carried Nebraska with an impressive 60 percent of the vote in the last election, and yet Republicans have to worry every two years about holding onto the Cornhusker state’s 2nd Congressional District. This simply shouldn’t happen. Nebraska should have three sheltered Republican congressional seats, period. Just look, for example, at the deep blue Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the mirror opposite of Nebraska. Former Vice President Kamala Harris won 61 percent of the vote there in 2024, but looking at it, Republicans have no chance of winning a single congressional seat because Democrats have made it impossible in the Bay State.
Moreover, purple states with Republican governors like New Hampshire should not have two Democrats in Congress and zero Republicans. Kamala Harris won New Hampshire by just 23,000 votes, so Republicans are seriously missing the current congressional map. Governor Kelly Ayotte should reconsider her position to ensure New Hampshire’s map accurately reflects the will of her voters.
Gov. Joe Lombardo of the battleground state of Nevada should also join the fight. Currently, only one of the Silver State’s four districts has a Republican House member, even though Trump won the state in 2024 by 46,000 votes. Needless to say, more red states with Republican governors—like Florida, Ohio, Missouri, and Indiana, to name a few—must continue to strengthen their congressional map to deal with the growing threat from the radical left.
Whether we want to see it or not, these are not normal times. It starts with fixing an inexact census and preventing illegal immigrants and flawed congressional maps from dictating the lives of patriotic American citizens who pay the freight. Bold action must be taken immediately.
