Comment: “One large, beautiful bill” will give Americans a safe border

Author: Rep. Mark Green

This week, the Internal Security Committee will take a huge step towards adopting the provisions to implement the border safety program of President Trump.

As part of the wider efforts of reconciliation of the Chamber, the Committee will mean regulations regarding the full financing of one of the president’s most essential priorities-securing our south-west border after four years of unprecedented and self-proclaimed border crisis at the hands of Biden-Harris administration.

This is a generational opportunity on which we must deliver and time is perfect.

From the time the office took the office, after the promises of the end of the Biden-Harris Open-Borders policy and the restoration of the enforcement of internal law, illegal transitions have fallen. In March, Patrol agents of the border recorded only 7,000 fears on the south -western border; For most of the biden reign, this number (often higher) was every day average.

For President Trump, the world understands that our borders are again closed to illegal immigration.

But the work is far from the end. Congress must work.

During his first term of office, President Trump was devoted to securing our borders and reducing illegal immigration, and he began to do so. However, the reluctant Congress constrained him primarily to acting through the executive body. When Biden took office, Trump’s actions were reversed.

The only way to do our promises for the American nation is to codify the program of President Trump. Financing with universally and effective limitations by agreeing is the first step.

We may not be able to achieve every reform needed in this “one great, beautiful bill”, but this is a necessary starting point.

A quick look at the legislative text of the Internal Security Committee shows why. First of all, we will never provide our border without proper investments in physical security. Our text does it, devoting the construction of a fresh border wall system over $ 46 billion. This covers not only the wall itself, but the lights, sensors, cameras and access roads – essential tools that border guard agents claim that they have to control and secure the border.

Democrats sitting in air -conditioned television studies and auditory rooms can mock the president’s concentration on the physical safety of borders, but by doing so, they show how they are not in contact with men and women on earth.

One of the surveys conducted by the National Grabit Patrol Council showed that nine out of 10 agents agree with the meaning and utility of a strategically placed border wall system. The former chief patrol agent Aaron Heitke, who operated in the San Diego sector until his retirement in 2023, told my committee in a transcribed interview that the wall “slows down people when they appear, and therefore we have more time to answer and actually fear.”

Secondly, we will also ensure that CBP has the staff and resources he needs to perform the vision of President Trump and fully secure our borders. This means money to employ thousands of other border patrol agents, customs officers and aviation and marine agents. At the same time, we intend to pay the CBP ability to capture human smugglers and mortal drugs, such as Fentanyl, by financing the construction of more internal control points and other facilities, as well as fresh technologies that will act as a multiplier of strength for agents.

In 2023, other major patrol agents told my committee that the border crisis had distracted staff from the service of existing control points, and were deeply concerned about drugs that probably slipped. Under Trump’s administration, agents can not only return to the first line security mission – they will have even stronger operational foundations from which this mission can be carried out.

Finally, we will continue to support you seriously in terms of security of borders. Republicans of the chambers understand what time it is. Committees of jurisdiction will have exhaustive brands on the coming days when we work to set the act to the desk of President Trump. As in the last four years, the Democrats will fight their teeth and nails to stop us from securing the border and enforcing our recipes. They show why only about 20% of the country perceive them positively.

Republicans, however, must focus on the final goal-the end of the border, the end of mass illegal immigration and the prevention of the next open crisis of Borders. Thanks to this investment, we will assist you make sure that the catastrophe of the last four years will not happen again.

We can do it. We have to. And we will.
