California will send observers to watch Justice Department poll watchers during the election

California will send its own observers to watch U.S. Department of Justice poll watchers during next week’s state elections, Democratic Attorney General Rob Bonta said.

“They will not be allowed to interfere in a manner prohibited by law,” Bonta said Monday during a virtual news conference. NOTUS informed. “We cannot be naive. The Republican Party has asked for the intervention of the US Department of Justice.”

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Friday that the Justice Department did sending election observers to watch the polls in California and New Jersey during next week’s general election.

California’s elections will be held under the state’s Proposition 50, which would authorize modern congressional districts that would give Democrats an estimated five more seats.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump asked on Truth Social what’s worse: basketball players “cheating at cards and probably many other things, or Democrats cheating in elections.”

“The 2020 Presidential Election, rigged and stolen, is a much bigger SCANDAL. Look what happened to our country when a fraud and moron became our “President!” Now we know everything. I hope that the Department of Justice will continue this with as much “zeal” as befits the greatest SCANDAL in American history! If not, it will happen again, including the upcoming semesters. No mail-in voting or “early” voting, just for voter ID! See how completely unfair the vote on California’s proposal is! Millions of ballots are being “shipped.” BE WISE REPUBLICANS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!” He in addition.

California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom called Trump’s conduct of the poll a monitor of an act of intimidation and voter suppression.

“This is a bridge too far,” Newsom said Friday.

Bonta argued that the federal government’s monitoring of state elections provides evidence of Trump’s intentions to contest future elections.

“He’s laying the groundwork. He’s socializing an idea that is very dangerous,” Bonta said, noting that Trump claims he won the 2020 presidential election. “All the indications, all the arrows point to this being a harbinger of something more dangerous in the 2026 midterms – and maybe beyond.”

Democratic New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin called the Justice Department’s actions “highly inappropriate,” saying it “failed to even attempt to establish a reasonable basis for its actions.”

Next week is the New Jersey gubernatorial election between Republican Mikie Sherrill and former Republican Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli.

Deputy Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who heads the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, has reportedly asked the White House to deploy poll watchers.

Dhillon published in October on Friday, responding to Newsom’s bullying claims by saying, “Lol tranquil down bro. The @TheJusticeDept under Democrats, it has been sending federal election observers for decades, and never once have we heard that it was voter intimidation in states like California. Do you really want to go there? Isn’t transparency a good thing?”
